About this organization

CMHA-SOS provides advocacy to assist individuals to access community services. With housing support including community kitchen, laundry services and activities for 44 residents; clubhouse for members with social and recreational activities. Advocates are committed to empowering clients to become more knowledgeable and assertive with dealing with their day to day concerns. Unity clubhouse provides social, recreational and education programs for 140 individuals living with a mental illness. Meals are provided at a nominal cost 7 days a week with Tuesday and Thursday serving dinner. Living life to the full is an 8 week cognitive behavioral therapy support group, and bounce back is telephone support.

Community Education Suicide Prevention Support Services Unity House Clubhouse Mental Health Advocacy Consumer Development Program (CDP) Supportive Employment Wellness Programs Confident Parents: Thriving Kids A family-focused, telephone-based coaching service for parents and caregivers, effective in reducing mild to moderate behavioural challenges and promoting healthy child development in children ages 3 12. Bounce Back: For Adults and Youth A free, evidence-based program designed to help adults experiencing symptoms of mild to moderate depression, low mood, or stress, with or without anxiety. Living Life to the Full An eight-session, 12-hour mental health promotion course designed to help people deal with low mood, anxiety, stress and everyday life challenges. Youth Living Life to the Full for Youth Our fun and interactive course has been shown to improve mood and well-being and reduce stress and anxiety. It offers tools for building problem solving skills, anger and anxiety management skills, social support, self-esteem and healthy thinking. Janice Lee Blue Wave Bursary This post-secondary bursary program is open to BC youth under the age of 20 who have experienced a significant mental health or substance use problem. Talk Today Talk Today is a mental health education program designed to help athletes and their supporters learn about mental health and to help support players who may be struggling or at risk of suicide. Campus Scholarships and Bursaries Several scholarships and bursaries are available each year to BC adults, 20 years of age or older, who are living with a mental illness or addiction. Healthy Minds | Healthy Campuses Supports BC campuses in developing networks, activities and policies to promote mental health and healthier relationships with alcohol and other drugs among post-secondary students.
