What Quick exit does

Every page on this site has a Quick exit button. Pressing it does two things at once: it leaves this site immediately, and it replaces this page in your browser history with the site it sends you to, the Government of Canada weather site (weather.gc.ca). Pressing the back button will not bring you back here.

What Quick exit does not do

It does not erase pages you visited earlier, on this site or any other. It does not close other tabs or windows. It does not hide what is on your screen from someone standing next to you. It cannot stop someone who monitors your device or your internet connection from seeing what you visited. If that is your situation, using a different device, such as one at a library or a friend's home, is safer than anything a website can do.

How to clear your history

Every browser keeps a list of the pages you have visited. You can delete it. In every browser below you can also delete a single page from the list instead of everything.

Chrome on a computer. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Cmd+Shift+Delete on a Mac). Choose a time range, tick "Browsing history", and press Delete. You can also reach this from the three-dot menu at the top right, under "Delete browsing data".

Safari on a Mac. Open the Safari menu at the top left and choose "Clear History". Pick a time range and press "Clear History".

Firefox. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Cmd+Shift+Delete on a Mac). Choose a time range, tick "Browsing and download history", and press "Clear now".

Microsoft Edge. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete. Choose a time range, tick "Browsing history", and press "Clear now".

iPhone or iPad. Open the Settings app, choose "Apps", then "Safari" (on older versions Safari is listed directly in Settings). Tap "Clear History and Website Data". If you use Chrome on an iPhone, open Chrome, tap the three dots, tap "History", then "Delete browsing data".

Android. Open Chrome, tap the three dots at the top right, tap "History", then "Delete browsing data". Tick "Browsing history" and press Delete. If you use Samsung Internet, tap the menu, then Settings, then "Personal browsing data", then "Delete browsing data".

Private browsing

Every browser can open a private window (Chrome and Edge call it Incognito or InPrivate, Safari and Firefox call it Private). Pages you visit in a private window are not saved to your history once you close it. It does not hide your activity from your internet provider or from software installed on the device.

What this site records

This site sets no cookies and does not store what you search for. The privacy page lists exactly what is recorded.
