About this organization

The purpose of the MHCHS is to provide access to affordable housing and supports.

Through our efforts to end homelessness, our community has housed over 1323 unique individuals, including 328 children, through

housing first.

Subsidized housing and support services are provided to over 1000 low-income households in Medicine Hat and area. The MHCHS is a Housing Management Body that oversees social and affordable housing. Units are available for individuals and families, including seniors, and those with special needs, who have low or modest incomes.

An application process determines eligibility. Applications are then assessed and prioritized based on greatest need as determined by such things as household income compared to housing costs, household composition, assets, current housing status, as well special

circumstances that may need to be considered. Once prioritized, eligible applicants are then placed on a waiting list for the most suitable housing subsidy program.
