About this service
All our clients are referrals from the Ministry of Social Services and upon intake can be placed in 1 of 3 homes based on their individual assessment. A client can go straight into Kanaweyimik Home or be transitioned out of Kanaweyimik Home if they have been sober/drug free for 6 months to 1 year. A clients length of stay may be longer if required
The overall goals of Kanaweyimik Home is to prepare residents for successful independent living with 0% chance of their children going back into the care of Ministry of Social Services (MSS). Kanaweyimik strives to improve social and economic condition, as well as quality and standards if life for aboriginal and non-aboriginal people.
Who can use it?
Women who may be at risk of having their children placed in foster care with the MSS.
