About this service
The Lighthouse provides emergency shelter for adults in Saskatoon who are houseless. Our emergency shelters are for individuals 16 years and older who either have nowhere to stay or their living situation is such that it is safer for them to be in a shelter. Lighthouse staff are compassionate and non-judgmental. They are educated in and embrace a trauma informed care approach to caring for people (and themselves). Our training standards are high so that staff are equipped to provide the best support for people needing help and a roof over their head. The Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness considers them Canadian Pandemic Heroes. People seek emergency shelter for a variety of reasons. Shelter guests are given meals, a safe place to sleep, a place to store belongings, and supports to help them find housing.
