About this service
Berts provides youth a temporary placement for male youth aged 12-17 years for approximately 30 days. Referrals come from the Ministry of Social Services (MSS). Berts provides 24/7 staffing support. The goal is to support these youth where they are at by providing emergency needs such as housing, addiction, family breakdown, education, and safety. Berts focuses on short-term concentrated case planning to prepare them for their next residence; which can include a JHSS long-term home. With the help of the Ministry of Social Services, JHSS was able to expand the services at Berts from 5 to 7 beds in 2019.
