The Painchaud House - Cypress Group

This program is for people with a moderate alcohol and/or drug use problem who need help to prevent a relapse. Note that the participant must be abstinent from any intoxicant during his involvement in the program and that he may or may not have been the subject of criminal charges.

The fundamental goal of the program for drug addicts is to acquire better mental health, thus allowing better control over the cycle of addiction.

The objectives of this program are:

• Inform the participant about the substances, their short and long term effects as well as the principles of tolerance and dependence;
• Allow the participant to self-assess their drug addiction problem and identify the cognitive distortions serving as a pretext for substance abuse;
• Teach the participant to properly identify the components of the addiction cycle and to better understand the concept of prevention;
• Enable the acquisition of personal and social skills;
• Encourage the participant to develop problem-solving strategies.
