About this organization

Created in 1999, the Canadian Centre for Refugee and Immigrant Health Care (CCRIHC) helps a refugee's journey to new life in Canada continue regardless of sickness and injury. These New Canadians, ineligible for insured services, rely on the medical lifeline of CCRIHC's free clinics. A dedicated cohort of health and social service professionals generously volunteer time and skill to the cause. Many of these volunteers have experienced first hand or through another relation the mental toil and challenging physical journey of a refugee who leaves their homeland to begin a new life in Canada. They help because they want to make Canada even better. The CCRIHC team unites around the desire for every New Canadian to receive health care when they need it, without judgment for their circumstances, regardless of their immigration status or their ability to pay.
