About this service
Cooling and warming centres provide spaces for people to find relief from extreme heat and cold. The City of Quinte West operates an overnight warming centre at Trenton United Church from December 15 to March 31. It is open from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. However, the facility does not provide beds or meals. On the other hand, a cooling centre is activated at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Arena in Trenton whenever there are two consecutive days with a temperature of 31 degrees or higher, or a humidex value of 35 degrees Celsius or higher. This centre operates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during those periods.
