What they offer
Counselling Services & Rates The treatment plan I develop with you will be carefully thought out, discussed and tailored to your unique needs and goals. The primary therapeutic approaches employed in our sessions will include a combination of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and narrative therapy. logo of website Healing Tree Counselling Services provides therapeutic services remotely or in person for individuals, couples, and youth across Canada. We are specialized in the following areas: Communication & Relationship Issues Anxiety Depression Workplace Stress Addiction Communication & Relationship Issues All couples experience disagreements from time to time. Disagreements and differences of opinion are a normal part of any relationship. However, if not managed in a healthy and effective manner, a seemingly simple disagreement can lead to significant conflict. When couples experience conflict and discord, it is often preceded by poor communication, lack of trust, feelings of invalidation, and resentment. When working with couples, I focus on helping them adopt healthy communication patterns, which in turn foster trust, mutual understanding, and intimacy. Anxiety Anxiety is an emotional reaction to distressing events or situations. This can become problematic when the brain, due to irrational thinking patterns, characterizes most situations as distressing. In this case, anxiety can become debilitating, and it may overwhelm ones ability to think rationally. In order to help clients manage their anxiety effectively, I work with them to help deconstruct irrational thought patterns and to replace them with more rational ways of thinking by using CBT and gradual exposure techniques. Depression Depression is more than simply feeling sad. Depression can lead to apathy, lack of motivation, physical and emotional exhaustion, loss of appetite, poor sleep, loss of focus and concentration, and social withdrawal. Depression is often characterized by extreme negative thinking accompanied by the feeling that things will not get better. In working with clients struggling with depression, I work with them to help them identify triggers that lead to a depressed mood, and to reframe their perspectives in order to interrupt negative thinking, therefore retraining the brain to adopt healthier thought patterns. Workplace Stress Stress in the workplace can have lasting effects well after the work day has ended. It can be influenced by various factors, including conflict with coworkers and/or managers, lack of purpose and achievement, feeling unacknowledged and under appreciated, or feeling overworked and overwhelmed. In order to help clients navigate these challenges, I use MBSR and CBT techniques to help clients reduce their stress levels and reframe their perspectives in order to better manage workplace issues. Addiction Addiction can be characterized as a complete loss of control of ones life. It affects not only the individual suffering from it, but also their loved ones. When working with individuals struggling with addiction, it is highly important to take into account the various factors that contribute to the dependency genetic, psychosocial, environmental, and neurobiological in order to provide them with a better understanding of the types of behaviours that feed the addiction and allow it to take control. I provide support to individuals struggling with addiction, as well as to the loved ones of those individuals, using a compassionate, strength-based approach.
