About this service
Some of our most vulnerable youth have difficulty finding housing in the community because of systemic discrimination. To support these youth we have opened two specialized houses: one dedicated to housing racialized youth and one for LGBTQ2S+ youth.
Residents have their own bedrooms but share common living spaces under the guidance of a house mentor who provides constant care.
The role of the house mentor is to model positive behaviours and manage group dynamics as well as teach and practice life skills.
Youth workers also support residents during their stay by introducing them to community resources and helping them develop longer-term action plans connected to schooling, employment and/or mental health supports.
