About this service
The Concurrent Youth Unit (CYU) is a full-service inpatient hospital program dedicated to the clinical care of youth, 14 to 18 years old, who require voluntary or involuntary inpatient treatment for "concurrent disorders": a moderate to severe addiction to substances and accompanying mental health challenges. This unit is the first of its kind in Canada and is a provincial service.
We are dedicated to serving both the youth in our care and their families. Our interprofessional team, cross-trained in mental illness including addictions, provides intensive and individualized treatment, including medical withdrawal management, medication implementation and optimization, dialectical behaviour therapy and cognitive behaviour therapy. Group, family, and individual therapies, academic support and aftercare are considered a critical part of an inpatient stay in the CYU.
