About this service

The Violence Against Women program provides free therapeutic counselling and psychotherapy to women, 16 and over, and their dependents who have experienced or are experiencing abuse and/or violence, including historical family violence and/or sexual violence in childhood. The program supports women in their decisions and provides safety planning that reflects the woman and her childrens immediate needs in order to live free from violence.

Our Violence Against Women program is proudly funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services.

Family violence is when someone uses abusive behaviour to control and/or harm a member of their family, or someone with whom they have an intimate relationship. Family violence includes many different forms of physical and emotional abuse, as well as neglect carried out by family members or intimate partners. It may include a single act of violence, or a number of acts that form a pattern of abuse.

Women 16+ and their dependents, who are experiencing abuse/violence
