Wesway

Respite is a break from the ongoing demands of providing care for a family member who has a disability or chronic health condition. Wesway offers short-term care which gives family caregivers some time to renew their energy. Respite care is a crucial part of the overall support many people need when caring for a family member at home. Wesway strives for flexibility in accommodating the strengths, needs and preferences of each family we serve. Care can take place in the family's own home, the home of a volunteer or in one of our Respite Homes. Respite may also include support for individuals to participate more fully in the life of the community.

For the past 45 years, Wesway's focus has been to support families. Wesway has grown its services in a way that puts the needs of families first. Wesway understands that no two families are the same, and so the respite care it provides should be flexible in order to support those unique needs. Wesway continues to evolve to ensure it is able to meet the needs of each family it serves. At Wesway, we listen. We tailor our services to meet the distinctive needs of each family we serve. We're proud of our reputation for flexibility, diversity and innovation. We work in partnership with families to create personalized service plans built on individual strengths, needs and preferences. Caregivers are encouraged to arrange their periods of respite directly with their workers or volunteers. Since nobody can predict when an emergency might occur - a death, illness, or other extraordinary situation, Wesway strives to support families through some of life's most difficult respite care challenges, with crisis support.
