Sudbury Action Centre for Youth

Take Action The Sudbury Action Centre for Youth began in 1986 as an employment centre. The centre offered casual labour for people who were recently released from prison. Within a year it became apparent that many of the youth registering for the labour program had shown a need for specialized support. Our Vision A community supporting people facing barriers, without judgment. Our Mission Meeting people where they are at; advocating, educating, navigating and connecting to supports in a safer environment.

THE ACTION CENTER MISSION THE ACTION CENTER GOALS CLIENT-CENTRED SERVICE DELIVERY The Action Centre will provide services that are relevant and responsive to the needs of those we serve. Ensure we deliver outstanding programs by following best practices Access and act upon client input. Ensure we deliver outstanding services through education, experience, and personnel training. Ensure adequate staffing to effectively serve our clients. Develop quality assurance metrics for all programs. COMMUNICATION The Action Centre will enhance existing internal and external communication and structures that will result in shared knowledge/understanding of all programs, services and activities among Board, Staff, Volunteers, Clients and Stakeholders. Reduce barriers and stigmatization for those we serve through community education and advocacy. Develop a clear media and communication strategy. Consistently deliver clear messages to the community about who we are and what we do. GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT We will work to ensure staff wellness, enhance core infrastructure, and pursue alternative revenue generation Increase and actively develop opportunities for staff development and support. Support the health and wellness of Staff. Diversify revenue sources to ensure growth and sustainability eg. Public, private, fundraising. Develop opportunities for learner and volunteer involvement. COMMUNITY COLLABORATION We will work to ensure staff wellness, enhance core infrastructure, and pursue alternative revenue generation Educate the community about the program and services of the Action Centre. Team up to advocate for needed supports. Share resources and exchange referrals. Together address service gaps.
