About this service
The Victim Quick Response+ Program (VQRP+) is run by Victim Services for the Ministry of the Attorney General and gives fast, practical help to people harmed by crime, including domestic or sexual assault, stalking tied to domestic violence, human trafficking, homicide (including attempts), and hate crimes. It can cover short-term counseling when other options aren’t available, emergency home safety steps (like lock changes, basic phones, or window alarms), rides or other transportation, child or dependent care, short-term places to stay and meals, and crime-scene cleanup; in some cases it helps with funeral costs for homicide victims. Referrals can come from police, emergency or community services, or directly from individuals, but there are eligibility rules and time limits, so older incidents may not qualify. Teams of two help with the application, make referrals, and connect people to local supports; providers are checked in advance, and anyone under 16 needs a parent or guardian to sign.
