About this service
Children can be affected when they hear or see violence against their mother. Children may feel confused, scared, or blame themselves. Children may be injured if they try to referee or rescue mom. Children may blame mom for abuse. Children may become angry and aggressive or, on the opposite, they may become sad and withdrawn. Children may refuse to respect mom's authority. All services are free and confidential. The Child Witness Program provides early intervention to child witnesses of violence against women in order that they may heal from the harmful effects of witnessing violence. The Child Witness program offers to meet with children who have witnessed violence in the home, provide groups for children with similar experiences, and provide individual counseling for children.
