About this service
The Quinte Children's Treatment Centre (QCTC) provides an Augmentative Communication Program to help children who struggle with speech and writing. The program offers assessment, treatment, and consultation for children who can benefit from low tech/no tech assistance such as eye gaze, pointing or gestures, picture communication boards, tape recorders, or computers. The program also assists children who need skill development to use high tech devices like multilevel voice output systems. Available funding for low tech devices is accessible through the Assistive Devices Program. The QCTC team includes Speech Language Pathologists, Communication Disorders Assistants, and Occupational Therapists, who work with the Child Development Centre at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston to support children and youth with communication challenges.
