About this service
Hospice North Hastings offers a variety of services, including a home visiting program for those caring for a loved one with a terminal illness and a residential hospice for end-of-life care. Their program presents an alternative to hospital admission as the care is based on patient needs. Families and caregivers are allowed and encouraged to be involved in their loved one's care and are welcomed to stay in the hospice house 24/7. They were the first Rural Residential Hospice in Ontario. Another significant service is the Medical Equipment Loan Cupboard, where residents in North Hastings can borrow medical equipment for short-term use at no charge. The equipment includes a range of items from commode chairs and raised toilet seats to crutches, wheelchairs, and bath seats. All services are funded by community donations and the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care.
