About this service
The Children Who Witness Abuse Counseling Program is an intervention and prevention program that addresses the needs of children and youth from homes where violence has occurred. The program is delivered to children and youth aged 3 to 18 in the 100 Mile House area that have been exposed to domestic violence.
The goal of the program is to interrupt and break the cycle of intergenerational abuse by directly helping children exposed to violence in relationships. Youth are assisted in developing a safety plan which helps them to understand that they are not responsible for the violence. The program provides individual and group counselling for children and youth, individual and group counselling for caregivers and school-based education activities designed to prevent violence.
