About this service
1st Step is a voluntary Mobile Treatment Program offered to youth (ages 13 24) experiencing difficulties surrounding substance misuse throughout the Thompson / Cariboo region. This program consists of counselling and outreach services, utilizing a harm reduction approach that aims to meet clients where they are in their readiness for change. Individualized goals are then determined on a case-by-case basis using a biopsychosocial treatment plan to address the physical, emotional, and social needs of an individual. Treatment services can include one-on-one counselling, alcohol and drug education, relapse prevention, group work, twelve-step meetings, as well as nutritional advice, and recreational activities.
The 1st Step program serves the following communities: Kamloops, Williams Lake, Merritt, Chase, Ashcroft, Lillooet, Logan Lake, and 100 Mile House.
Who can use it?
Referral Process: Individuals are referred to the program. Adults have the option to self-refer.
