About this service
Through 7 distinct "Safety Smarts" presentations, rural children from kindergarten through grade six are taught to recognize and react safely to a wide variety of potential farm hazards. Age appropriate, hands-on, interactive farm safety messages are taught to individual classes of rural students; with each grades presentation having a unique focus. "Safety Smarts" presentations are offered to ALL schools in rural Alberta - AT NO COST
In response to a recently released 20 year study of agriculture-related injuries and fatalities in Alberta, we have updated the focus of many "Safety Smarts" presentations to ensure that the safety concepts we teach respond to the real risks being encountered by rural children. The majority of non-work related fatalities on Alberta farms involve children and youth (0-14 years).
