About this service
URSAs Kootenay Lodge is designed to provide safe, supported, community-based housing for homeless, at-risk, Indigenous people with disabilities.
This is a true home for individuals promoting safety, growth, learning, and happiness. The biggest difference in this home is that life is focused around Indigenous customs and culture including traditional ceremonies, food, activities, and everyday living. Kootenay Lodge employs a wholistic approach to serving this vulnerable population. This program consults with and is educated by the Medicine Wheel and elders within the community to provide support and services that address the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of residents.
Eligibility:
- Indigenous (Metis, status, non-status) with a disability.
- Medical needs managed by care giving staff (there are no medical staff such as LPNs or RNs).
- Able to live in a group setting and pay the room and board charges.\
