About this service
Living with a brain injury changes everything and requires many to relearn everyday living skills. URSA created Easy Street to help brain injury survivors learn these skills in a safe and realistic environment.
Easy Street is a life-sized replica of a city street, complete with shops, vehicles and a bank. In this safe and secure environment, individuals are offered an opportunity to practice everyday skills. These skills are needed to navigate through basic community settings. For example, shopping for groceries, getting on a bus, or dining at a restaurant.
Individuals learn how to maneuver obstacles such as curbs, steps, doorways and ramps. A number of walking surfaces are represented (brick, concrete and tile) which are all used to teach individuals how to negotiate and move through various challenges and complicated situations of everyday life.
