About this service
According to Food Network Yukon (FNY) Food security continues to be an urgent topic for the Territory both in terms of emergency food provision and the need for long-term strategy to address food insecurity and sovereignty across Yukon. The Boys & Girls Club of Yukon in partnership with President Choices Childrens Charity, Whitehorse Food Bank and Boys & Girls Club of Canada, we are excited to announce the release of our Project Backpack Program.
Project Backpack is designed to help reduce food insecurity for young people and their families. Once a week, five families in Carcross, and fifteen families in Whitehorse are given a food-filled backpack to bring home. The backpack is filled with nutritious food that they can easily assemble into healthy meals over the weekend or during time periods when Clubs or schools are unable to provide meals.
