About this service
Accessing Services Clients may self-refer or be referred by a community physician, hospital or community support via walk-in, phone or fax. Involvement in the program is voluntary. Clients are assessed for admission by an addiction counsellor, after which a referral may be made to the methadone prescribing physician. Who Do We Serve? The Methadone Assisted Recovery service is an adult based service. Youth involvement is at the discretion of the physician. The criteria for referral is opioid addiction and dependency. Methadone is a daily dispensed medication to prevent withdrawal and craving for opioid's. It is used together with counselling for people unable to detoxify and recover through conventional resources such as detox centres, treatment centres, 12-step meetings, etc. Clients must have previously attempted to abstain from opioid's (e.g. morphine, dilaudid) with or without assistance. Services Offered: The long-term goal of Methadone Assisted Recovery is to establish / re-establish healthy living, a process in which client actively participates. Treatment is a comprehensive and individualized process. Service Providers: The Methadone Assisted Recovery service is a Saskatoon Health Region partnership program with the College of Physicians and Surgeons. Our multidisciplinary teams consists of Physicians and Addiction Counsellors. Location and Contact Information: 1611 20th Street West Saskatoon, SK.
