Caring Breaths Financial Assistance Program

Breathing is what unites and inspires us to fund essential support programs, services and medical equipment to improve lung health for patients and their primary caregivers. Additionally, Caring Breaths is available to Saskatchewan residents who have undergone radon mitigation. Caring Breaths is designed to be complementary to other established financial assistance programs in the province of Saskatchewan. Before submitting your financial reimbursement request to Caring Breaths, ensure that your expenses cant be covered by other funding programs or insurance providers. Caring Breaths is a reimbursement program, requiring all applications to include a copy of the expense receipts for which they are requesting reimbursement. All requests are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Expenses Covered Medical Medical Equipment. (Examples include blood pressure monitor with adapter, digital thermometer, digital weigh scale etc.) Prescribed medical equipment rental costs. Please note: Funding should first be requested from SAIL or SaskAbilities Pulmonary Rehabilitation home-based equipment Travel Travel and accommodations for medical care/appointments Eligible potential expenses include travel and accommodations for medical appointments within a 50 km distance. (For travel and accommodations greater than 50 km, please apply to the Telemiracle Kinsmen Foundation) Fees & Other Expenses Cost of bills to maintain Saskatchewan primary home residence while in Edmonton for a lung transplant. Cost of mortgage/rent of primary home residence in Saskatchewan while in Edmonton for care (including both pre-transplant physiotherapy program and/or post-transplant) if the individual has no other insurance. Cost of a private company to maintain care for Saskatchewan primary home residence while in Edmonton for a lung transplant. The home residence must be unoccupied or have no other individuals living in the residence to assist with home maintenance. Cost of a private company to maintain care for Saskatchewan primary home residence if individuals are unable to do so due to their lung disease Cost for dependent care such as child, family, pet etc. Costs associated with end of life and end of life care. Pulmonary Rehabilitation enrollment fees. Radon Mitigation Radon mitigation completed by a Canadian-National Radon Proficiency Program (C-NRPP) radon reduction expert to lower radon levels below Health Canadas recommended guideline of 200 Bq/m3in the individuals primary residents. Please note: To be considered for radon mitigation reimbursement, individuals must have first had their home tested for radon with a long-term radon test (minimum 3 months). Mitigation work must be completed by a certified Canadian-National Radon Proficiency Program (C-NRPP) radon reduction expert. Post mitigation radon levels must be below Health Canadas recommended guideline of 200 Bq/m3). Government Tax Credit: Saskatchewan Residents are eligible for the Provincial Governments Home Renovations Tax Credit. Thisallows home owners to claim a10.5 per cent tax credit on up to $20,000 of eligible home renovation expenses.The eligible expenses include the cost of labour, professional services, andthebuilding materials required for radon reductionmeasures. Itis importantto find certified contractorsthrough the Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program (CNRPP) as they are trainedand recommended by Health Canada.

To be eligible: individuals must be saskatchewan residents. Expenses must be incurred within the past 12 months. A maximum of $1000.00 Can be provided to an individual per calendar year eligible persons include: lung transplant recipients & primary caregivers if you or your loved one has or is undergoing a lung transplant, some of your expenses may be covered by the caring breaths program.
