Lighthouse Community Housing

Transitional, supported and affordable housing is needed so that people dont languish in an emergency shelter and have a place to live after. These are identified gaps in the North Battleford Housing Strategy and Action Plan. The Lighthouse is committed to this action plan and continues to develop person-centred supported housing in North Battleford. The Lighthouse operates and supports 15 housing units in the community with 14 more units under development. Participants in Lighthouse housing either live mostly independently or have a one-on-one support worker who helps them learn life skills for daily living. The Lighthouse Housing Program in North Battleford offers adults a safe living environment with case management support for people at risk of homelessness Housing Participant Eligibility At risk of homelessness May have an intellectual disability, or a disability stemming from an acquired brain injury or FASD. Inadequate connections to community support May need assistance learning basic daily living activities such as preparing meals, paying bills, taking medication, attending appointments, etc. Registered or qualified for Saskatchewan Assured Income for the Disabled (SAID) Program, or able to secure funding/payment for monthly housing and living costs. Program Details Housing located in North Battleford Participants have their own room. Many units have a private bathroom and kitchen. Laundry facilities Access to transit Case management support Residents develop a case plan with the program case managers to explore and pursue personal goals. This may include recovery-based programs, coping skills, life skills development and recreational/leisure programing in the community
