Over the years, Dysphasie Qubec has changed its name several times. It was first under the name of the Quebec Association of Children with Hearing Loss (AQEA) that the organization was born. AQEA was founded in 1986 in Montreal. In 1990, a regional office opened in the old capital. It was then that people in the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudire-Appalaches regions with hearing impairment, the old name for dysphasia, were able to refer themselves to an office located closer to them. In 2009, the AQEA changed its name to the Quebec Dysphasia Association
