Leadership Waterloo Region

Our Vision is to build vibrant, resilient and inclusive communities. We encourage, empower and equip current and future leaders to unleash positive change in their communities.

How do we do this? We deliver educational leadership experiences by providing opportunities to acquire and practice leadership skills. This work is done collaboratively with a cross-section of diverse and inclusive organizations in Waterloo Region through the delivery of carefully tailored programs and events. LWR is committed to Waterloo Regions excellence by focusing our work through the following channels: community understanding, relationship building, collaborative leadership and community readiness. The 10-month Community Leadership Development Program is at the Core of what we do. That is why we call it our Core Program. This practical and experiential learning program equips participants, so they are ready to take on leadership roles in Waterloo Region. Since our inception in 2001, LWR has graduated more than 460 leaders from our Core Program. These leaders have assumed leadership roles in our community to help build resiliency while contributing their skills to establish a healthy, safe, and inclusive Region where we can live, work and play.
