About this organization

A safe haven for over 17,600 women and children. In another first-of-its-kind initiative, the visionary founders of Muslim Welfare Centre purchased a property in Whitby, Ontario. Thereafter, they set about establishing the Muslim Welfare Home for Needy Women and Children (MWH) in 1996. Years later, in recognition of the sincere efforts and quality services, the region began funding this facility under the management of Muslim Welfare Centre. From its inception, the Muslim Welfare Home has provided a culturally- sensitive safe haven for women and children in need, with a primary focus on those who are homeless.
