About this service
The Neighbourhood Community Officer Program (NCOP), was first introduced in 2013, across the city. Neighbourhood Community Officers (NCOs), work in partnership with local residents and community-based organizations to address community safety and quality of life issues. With a mandate that includes building relationships and solving problems within their neighbourhoods, NCOs are accountable to the community they serve.
The NCOP has evolved through formative feedback including community consultations and an independent academic evaluation conducted by Humber College. The findings of this research have assisted in shaping the NCOP, ensuring a consistent and effective approach to Neighbourhood Community Policing.
NCOs are the ambassadors of the Toronto Police Service and the neighbourhoods they serve. NCOs ensure that neighbourhood concerns are addressed promptly by working collaboratively with residents and community agencies to build sustainable solutions.
