About this service

What is a Concussion? A concussion is a mild brain injury that often results from sports injuries or falls, and can lead to symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and loss of balance. Although common in nature, most concussions resolve within a few days and require a short period of rest and monitoring. However, if symptoms continue to persist, it is critical to seek appropriate treatment and care. What can I expect from Concussion Care? The effects of a concussion include, but are not limited to, headaches, dizziness, poor memory, loss of balance, slurred speech and other function-limiting symptoms. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to speak with a healthcare professional to carefully assess your situation and recommend a treatment plan. Our interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals will work with you and your Doctor or specialist to complete a timely assessment and develop a customized treatment plan to address your specific health concerns. We provide an advanced approach to concussion awareness and management, guiding injured individuals to safely return to the activities that matter to them, whether an athlete, office worker, or weekend warrior. Our program emphasizes a continuum of care from education, testing, and tailored exercise to injury management and return-to-play, work or school recommendations, based on the most up-to-date concussion guidelines. The goal is to help you progressively improve your cognitive and physical health, so you can safely return to the activities that matter to you. The effects of a concussion may not always be just physical, but can also include emotional symptoms such as feelings of irritability, sadness or depression. If you are experiencing any of these feelings after a concussion, it may be helpful for you to talk to a psychologist for support. Our psychologists will work with you one-on-one in a supportive, collaborative environment to help you effectively manage your symptoms.
