About this service
The Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centre (SA/DVTC) is an individualized service available to victims and survivors of sexual assault and/or domestic violence. The program provides emergency medical and psycho-social treatment as well as follow-up care, by specially-trained nurses. The care that we provide is totally patient-centred and focuses on choices made by the victim/survivor. We are not here to tell you what you should do. We are here to support you and help you do what you know is best for your personal situation. Domestic violence and sexual assault victims who come to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for treatment will be registered as Emergency Department patients and provided care with a minimum of delay, by a duty nursing/medical staff and the Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Nurse (SA/DV).
