About this organization

Many people picture the homeless as those living on the streets, in parks, in doorways and in other public places. But the hidden homeless an estimated 80% of those without a place to call home are much less visible. Consider the youth who move from friend to friend and relative to relative while seeking affordable housing. Or the woman who accepts housing from a man, even a dangerous situation, rather than freeze on the street. This is the reality for many living in our community. For almost a century, the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin has been providing those in need with a safe place to call home.
