About this service
AMHS-HPE-Trenton-Court Diversion & Court Support is a program offered by CMHA Hastings Prince Edward (HPE). It is designed to provide direct services to individuals who have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness and have been charged with a minor offense. This cooperative scheme between the criminal and mental health systems includes services such as assistance in accessing mental health supports, supportive counseling, monitoring, service coordination, and support at court appearances. It is a strictly voluntary program and only available to those who have been recommended by the Crown Attorney. Additionally, it also includes a Court Diversion Enhancement Program which offers transitional community-based services and direct services to those on a Court Diversion plan or have had some involvement with the program. This program further includes an affordable housing component. It is a time-limited service usually extending up to four months.
