About this service
Camp Start focuses on developing the child's artistic skills while helping them strengthen their abilities to handle materials, communicate ideas and solve problems creatively.
The children increase their knowledge of how to build relationships with others in similar, yet different, circumstances. We look honestly at past hurts that they wish to express, and then work with characters, improvisation and play writing to weave their emotional pain to a safe place with drama and laughter. In Gestalt terms, this looks at unfinished business early in the life cycle and offers an opportunity to express the feelings and better understand the situation - for example, that they are not responsible for the divorce, separation, death, etc. Building self-esteem and confidence which has been affected by loss for children 6-11 years of age.
