Extra-Judicial Measures
The Extra-Judicial Measures Program is a community-based pre-charge measure where a youth can be adequately dealt with by police warning, caution, or referral to a community program. Measures encourage youth to make reparations for their offence and can include; an apology to the victim, community service hours, restitution, participating in various programs (anger, substance, crime prevention, etc.)
Extra-Judicial Sanctions
The Extra-Judicial Sanctions are determined on an individual basis and encourage the young person to demonstrate responsibility in the community, while providing an opportunity for the young person to recognize their skills and abilities and encourage constructive use of leisure time. Extra-Judicial Sanctions encourage young persons to make reparations for their offence and can include; an apology to the victim, community service hours, participating in various programs (anger, substance, crime prevention, etc.)
