About this organization

The AIDS Committee of Durham Region creates an inclusive environment for a collaborative approach to education, support and outreach, building on the strengths and abilities of people living with HIV, AIDS and related co-infections, their support networks, and those at risk in Durham region. ACDR offers: counseling, support groups, financial assistance, advocacy, inter-agency support and peer mentoring, treatment access with both traditional and naturopathic practitioners and a food and vitamin bank. Education and outreach programs include: speaker's bureau, harm reduction, youth outreach, gay men's outreach, African/Caribbean outreach, women's outreach, rural communities outreach and safer sex kit and pamphlet distribution. In addition to these services, staff and volunteers, plan such holiday and social events as the holiday hamper program, parties, bingo, bbqs and outings.
