About this service
Smoking Cessation is a program designed to help smokers quit. It is run by the Central Hastings Family Health Team in collaboration with the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health. Enrolled patients are entitled to free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) for up to 26 weeks, as well as individual counseling sessions with a nurse or a nurse practitioner. Patients may also receive prescriptions for Zyban or Champix to aid their quitting process. If a patient does not succeed after the 26-week program, they can re-enroll after one year. There is no limit to the number of times a patient can join the program.
