About this service
The Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) program is offered in partnership with the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB), the London Catholic District School Board (LCDSB), and local community agencies. We offer information and referrals to school and community-based resources. We also support family involvement in the students school life.
Our SWIS team plays a vital role in the communities they serve. Schools are often the heart of a neighbourhood. Our dedicated SWIS staff work directly in schools as links between the student, the newcomer family and the school or teacher. Through one-on-one discussions and group workshops, newcomer families and students gain a better understanding of the Canadian and Ontario education system and curriculum as well as Community resources available to them.
