About this service

Students in the lower primary grades are eligible for one-on-one reading assistance through the Strong Start program. Volunteers spend time working with students on letters and sounds to build up their pre-reading skills. The Strong Start program was developed in Waterloo Region through a charitable foundation in 2001 and has spread to other regions of Ontario as well. This program is currently on hold due to COVID-19.
