About this service
To ensure adequate and accessible health care for the many communities it serves, the Centre offers individuals who do not have a permanent address the opportunity to acquire an Ontario Health Card. Working in conjunction with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care the program takes place on the 1st and 3 Wednesday of every month from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Those accessing the Kiosk are provided with a temporary health card number which enables them to access health care services and the Centre assists individuals in making the necessary arrangements to attain a permanent health card within 12 months. The goal of the Health Card Kiosk is to improve access to primary care for people that are homeless or at risk of being homeless and increasing awareness of programs and activities offered at the Centre. In addition, more people are linked to other services and health promotion activities offered by Hamilton Urban Core. Registration is required.
