About this service
Safe Sisters is a weekly drop in program for girls in grades 7 & 8 in the Shelldale neighbourhood. It is designed to provide a safe space for young girls to learn about and discuss personal safety and positive well-being in terms of their community, their own body and social media. The goal of the program is to provide support and resources to the girls in this neighbourhood by identifying and working to combat the issues they face. We are supporting making positive choices, connecting them to resources and teaching them life and social-emotional skills that will go with them in their lives. We help them to build positive relationships in their communities, schools and families. Topics include: body image, self-esteem, substance use, self-harm, mental health and wellness, importance of physical health, personal boundaries, nutrition, social media, life skills, positive relationships and more.
