About this service
The Youth Bereavement Program was created to provide professional, trusted support for the youth in our community during and after a family members death. We want to create a supportive and safe environment where grieving adolescents have the opportunities to connect with other youth who are also grieving the death of a parent or sibling. The Nightingale Youth Bereavement Program is designed to provide grief and bereavement support to teenagers/adolescents ages 13 19 who have lost a parent or sibling through death. With this program, young people engage in age-appropriate discussions related to their experiences of death in their family, associated feelings, identity development within this new reality, and coping strategies to build/reinforce resilience. The group will be facilitated by Claire Barron, an experienced adolescent counsellor, as well as two trained volunteers.
