Youth Justice Family Worker

YOUTH JUSTICE FAMILY WORKER The Youth Justice Family Support Program is a community based program that services at risk young persons aged 12-17 and their families. At risk refers to youth who are in conflict with the law, and/or have been sentenced, and/or are at risk to re-offend, and/or resides in a high needs community that further increases exposure to risk factors, and/or have mental health, and/or behavioural needs. Referrals can be made for by the following: Probation Officer, Schools, Police, Crown, Community stakeholders that work with youth. Service Objectives: Provide supports to the families of youth in conflict with the law to support rehabilitation and address situations that put youth at risk of re-offending. An opportunity to understand the dynamics occurring in the family to reinforce positive behaviour. Facilitate open and honest communication. Support families through a difficult time and develop healthy and supportive relationships. To respond to /address the complex issues of high risk youth and youth in conflict with the law. Supportive Services Offered: Education Support Family Support Youth Support Employment Support Substance Abuse Anger Management Cognitive/Life skills Service Goals Support the achievement of the Youth Justice Service Divisions four outcomes for youth: Improved functioning and positive social behaviour; Increased skills and abilities; Increased youth engagement with supports; and Decreased re-offending
