What is Memory Care? Chartwells memory care services are offered to seniors living with dementia or Alzheimers. Caring staff are trained on how to support individuals living with cognitive impairment. Chartwell retirement residences offering memory care services have dedicated, secure neighbourhoods or floors with their own dining rooms and activity lounges for added security and peace of mind. What is Chartwells Memory Living program? Chartwell also offers a unique Memory Living program in select locations that focuses on the social impact of dementia and offers seniors living with cognitive impairment a safe, supportive and independent environment with an emphasis on activities of daily living. Trained and dedicated staff build strong relationships with residents, as well as engage with and support their family members. Residents also benefit from specially-designed lifestyle activities and dining meant to help each individual lead a good day, every day. Though Chartwell offers memory care services in many of our residences, only a few of our retirement communities across Canada have dedicated Memory Living Neighbourhoods, featuring secure outdoor space, family-style dining and resources like Memory Living Managers and Dementia Counsellors for families. How does my loved one move into a retirement community that offers Memory Care or Memory Living? For residents of Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, you are welcome to inquire about availability at the Chartwell retirement community you are interested in for your loved one. When you visit, staff will conduct an assessment to ensure memory care or memory living will provide your loved one with the right amount of support they need and may recommend another lifestyle option such as long term care if required.
