About this organization
OUR MISSION The Sudbury Workers Education and Advocacy Centre (SWEAC) is an organization of workers, students, and community volunteers who are committed to improving the working conditions of people with low-wage and unstable employment. OUR MANDATE SWEAC will deliver support and education on workers rights, provide community spaces for workers to share and learn together, and ensure that all workers are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect. HISTORY SWEAC began after a dedicated group of volunteers and workers were concerned about the inequalities that precarious and low-wage workers in Sudbury faced. The Centre was first incorporated as a non-profit organization in August 2013 after receiving starter funds from the United Way. Since then, SWEAC continues to prioritize the needs of the growing precariat in the Greater City of Sudbury and surrounding areas. The Sudbury Workers Education and Advocacy Centre (SWEAC) is currently funded by The Law Foundation of Ontario.
