About this service
Maplegate House for Women is a 10 bed shelter for women and their children who are or have experienced abuse. We offer women and children a safe, comfortable, secure, wheelchair accessible facility that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our crisis line also operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All calls and client intakes are completely confidential. We have a pet shelter on site as it is statistically proven that women will delay their decision to leave or not leave an abusive environment out of fear of the welfare of their pet. We have removed that barrier so that women can leave with their pets. At Maplegate House for Women, we work on a Harm Reduction philosophy and Trauma informed care approach. The staff here are committed to provide services in a method that is welcoming and appropriate to the needs of individuals who have been affected by trauma and creating a space conducive to healing and growth.
