Cedar Hill United Church

Cedar Hill United is a story of two churches coming together as one. First United Church grew out of the oldest congregation in Galt, and had a rich history dating back to the arrival of the first settlers to this area in 1817. Scottish Presbyterians, they worshipped as the Associated Reform Church (1824), the United Presbyterian Church (1858), the Presbyterian Church of Canada (1907) and the United Church of Canada (1925). The congregation worshipped at 15 Wellington St. from 1863 to October, 2017, when it amalgamated with St. John's On-The-Hill United Church, 241 Cedar St., under a new name: Cedar Hill United Church. First United and St. John's have a long history together. Dr. Bob Bell and his wife Willeta were members of First United Church when they recognized the need for another united church on the growing side of west Galt. From their initiative, and with the support of members of the congregation, St. John's On-The-Hill was born. It is fitting that the two congregations have come together again, under a new name, to go forward together.

We meet together each Sunday to give thanks to the Lord for all that has been given to us. We are an inclusive congregation wanting and willing to help each other.
